Refurbished optical network equipment (SFP, QSFP, XFP, WDM)
We supply refurbished optical network equipment from the leading telecoms OEMs – tested, warrantied and far cheaper than new – pluggable optics and transport systems carrying traffic across core, metro and access, we can supply the whole optical estate, drawn from one of the largest independent secondary markets.
Coded so your equipment accepts them
Network equipment checks the vendor ID stored in a transceiver before it enables the port. We code every module to your platform so it is recognised and runs with full functionality, and recode it if you move to a different vendor. Each module is built to the relevant MSA standard, so it matches the OEM optic electrically and optically.
- Coded to your platform – recognised and fully enabled
- Recoded if you change vendor – not tied to one platform
- MSA standard – matches the OEM optic, with standard DDM telemetry
OEM-compatible optics at a fraction of the price
OEM-compatible optics give the same reach, speed and performance as the branded module for a significantly lower cost. Across a build with hundreds or thousands of ports, that adds up. New and refurbished options are both available.
- The same reach, speed and performance
- A significant saving – repeated on every port
- New or refurbished – both tested and warrantied
Tested in the equipment it is going into
Every module is tested in the type of equipment it is coded for: the link is brought up and the diagnostics checked for correct transmit and receive power across the rated range. It ships warrantied, with a test record.
- Link brought up – on the target platform
- Diagnostics verified – DDM/DOM power and temperature
- Warrantied – with a test record for every module
Why source optics from DTC?
Up to 90% discount on list price
OEM-compatible optics from DTC give you the same reach, speed and performance as the branded module for far less - often at up to 90% below OEM list price.
Shipped from stock
We ship from one of the largest independent optics inventories in the market. Your modules go out from stock, often on the same day, rather than waiting for lead times.
Optics for retired/EOSL platforms
When a platform has gone EOSL, that doesn't mean that all networks using that platform are suddenly not in service. We hold in stock and source models for discontinued and end-of-life platforms as well as modern ones.
Lower carbon than new
Every reused optic avoids the embodied carbon of manufacturing a new one. Where refurbished optics meet your needs, you get a documented carbon saving for ESG reporting with no compromise on quality or service.
Optical transceivers and optics
Transceivers are where networks quietly overspend. They are small, bought in volume, and the OEM badge on the casing can multiply the price of an otherwise identical module several times over. DTC supplies OEM-compatible, fully tested optics across every major form factor, coded to your platform, at a fraction of OEM cost – new and refurbished, multi-vendor, and warrantied.
Why coding decides whether an optic works
Every transceiver carries an identity in its EEPROM – a vendor name and part number the host equipment reads when the module is inserted. Cisco, Juniper, Arista and the rest check that identity, and by default they flag, restrict or refuse a module that is not coded as their own. It is a commercial lock, not a technical one: the optic is frequently made by the same contract manufacturer that supplies the OEM. Coded correctly for your platform, a third-party module is accepted and behaves exactly like the branded part – and if you change vendor, it can be recoded rather than replaced.
What we supply
- SFP (1G), SFP+ (10G) and SFP28 (25G)
- QSFP+ (40G), QSFP28 (100G) and QSFP-DD / OSFP (400G)
- XFP, CFP and CFP2, plus coherent optics for long-haul
- DWDM and CWDM, including tunable, and BiDi single-fibre optics
- Direct-attach copper (DAC) and active optical cables (AOC)
Reach and wavelength for the actual link
We supply the right optic for the distance and fibre in front of you – short-reach (SR) for in-rack and intra-data-centre, long-reach (LR) and extended-reach (ER/ZR) for metro and long-haul, single-mode and multimode, and CWDM or DWDM where you need to carry many wavelengths down one pair. Industrial-temperature optics are available where the environment is harsh.
Tested, not just matched on paper
Each module is tested in the type of equipment it is coded for: the link is brought up, the digital diagnostics (DDM/DOM) are read to confirm transmit and receive power are within spec, and the optic is checked across its rated range. It ships warrantied like new, with a test record – because a datasheet match is not the same as a link that stays up.
The cost case
Because the markup sits in the brand rather than the part, coded compatibles deliver the same performance for a fraction of the OEM price. Across a high-port-count build or refresh, optics are one of the largest lines you can cut without touching capability, and refurbished modules stretch the budget further again.
Compliance, accreditation and security
BSI ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001, with warranty and compatibility-test records on every module, and a deep secondary-market pool behind availability.
Optical transceivers: frequently asked questions
Are your optical transceivers OEM-compatible?
Yes. We code each module to your platform so it is recognised and runs at full functionality, built to the relevant MSA standard.
Will a coded transceiver work in Cisco, Juniper or Arista kit?
Yes, coded to the vendor and platform you run, and recoded if you move to a different vendor.
Which form factors do you supply?
SFP, SFP+, SFP28, QSFP+, QSFP28 and QSFP-DD, plus XFP, CFP, and DWDM and CWDM optics.
Do you cover long-haul as well as data centre?
Yes, short-reach for in-rack through to long and extended-reach (ER/ZR), DWDM and coherent for metro and long-haul.
Are they tested and warrantied?
Yes, tested in the type of equipment they are coded for and shipped warrantied with a test record.
